What do you mean by “Toronto”?

Accepted Answer

ArtReach-funded projects must be by and for youth in Toronto. This includes only the City of Toronto, Etobicoke, North York, and Scarborough, but does not include the GTA as a whole. ArtReach will not fund programs outside of Toronto

If applying as a group, the majority (50%+) of your team members must be located within Toronto at the time of running your program

What age range does ArtReach accept applications from?

Accepted Answer

We accept applications from artists aged 13-29 at the time of application, and from groups/ organizations/ collectives where at least 50% of the operational leadership team are aged 13-29. Applications should be clear on this essential youth-led element to ensure mandate alignment.

Question 3

I’m over the age of 30/ my group isn’t youth-led, can I still apply?

Accepted Answer

As a general rule, ArtReach does not provide funding to adult applicants or adult-led programs.

Proposals from applicants that are not youth will only be considered where the barriers being faced by the participants are extremely severe. In these cases, there must be a strong youth engagement model in place to allow for young people to still carry meaningful leadership roles in the program.

In this case, applicants must receive approval from ArtReach staff before applying. Failure to seek this approval before applying will result in your application being ineligible for review.

Do you accept applications from individuals?

Do you accept applications from grassroots or unregistered groups/ organizations/ collectives?

Accepted Answer

Yes, grassroots or unregistered groups/ organizations/ collectives are welcome to apply, with or without a trustee

I’m part of a youth group housed within a larger non-profit/ charity that isn’t youth-led, can I still apply?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but if you are a youth group housed within a larger non-profit/ charity, you must apply under the name of the youth group directly. The Applicant Name on your application form cannot be an organization led by folks 30+

What does ArtReach mean by “equity-deserving communities”?

Accepted Answer

Equity-deserving groups are communities that face systemic barriers to equal access, opportunities, and resources due to disadvantage and discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, income, gender identity, sexual orientation, Indigeneity, age, ability, language, health, housing status, neighbourhood, and/or immigration status, among other identity markers
